Ο Καρς είναι ένας επιφανής επιχειρηματίας. Απαρηγόρητος μετά από τον θάνατο της γυναίκας του, αποφασίζει να ιδρύσει την εταιρεία GraveTech. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, ανακαλύπτει μια επαναστατική και αμφιλεγόμενη τεχνολογία που επιτρέπει στους ζωντανούς ανθρώπους να παρακολουθούν τους αγαπημένους τους νεκρούς μέσα στα σάβανα τους.
